KNUST Student dead: Who killed Joana Deladem Yabane, what we know so far...
There are many stories making rounds about the death of a young KNUST student whose lifeless body was found on campus.;
If you are not following, here is a summary of what happened from the beginning.;
so early morning of Thursday February 27th, 2025. A lifeless female body was found close to the KNUST school's Centre for Disability at around 5:00am . She was later identified as Joana Deladem Yabane Aku a level 400 student studying Bsc. Biological Sciences.;
Initially many believed that the student may have been attacked by thieves on the way back from studying at night during the week of the midterm exams, however rumors started spreading on campus, some say she had a misunderstanding with her boyfriend and her boyfriend striked her. Could this be true? This could b false but no one knew for sure what caused her death until hours later as investigations started more information came out.;
it is alleged that a CCTV footage captured the moment when the suspect, identified as Joana's boyfriend and a fellow KNUST student, engaged in a violent confrontation with Joana.;
During the altercation, Joana fell to the ground. After realizing she was unresponsive, the suspect - Joana's boyfriend - allegedly relocated her body to the university's Disability and Rehabilitation Centre, where she was later discovered.;
Reports also indicate that the suspect wrote his mid-semester exam this morning wearing the same outfit seen in the CCTV footage of the altercation that led to Joana's death.;
So far the suspect, a fellow student who resided in the same hostel as the deceased, has been apprehended by the Regional Police.; His name is Tuffour Daniel a 21year old young man. Mean while Investigations continue;
The arrest follows an extensive review of CCTV footage, which provided critical evidence. Authorities also found clothing worn during the crime in the suspect’s possession, which has been retrieved as evidence.;
In response to the tragic incident, KNUST, in collaboration with the Regional Police Command led by the IGP, has significantly boosted security across campus.;
